Susan G. Komen South Florida Proud To Announce Partnership With ELO Restoration

SOUTH FLORIDA – Susan G. Komen South Florida is proud to announce a new partnership with ELO Restoration to increase awareness of the importance of early detection for breast cancer. Jacksonville-based ELO Restoration, a family-owned residential roofing contractor that serves Northeast Florida will add the Susan G. Komen logo to support Komen’s promise to creating a world where no one dies from breast cancer. Susan G. Komen was chosen because one of ELO Restoration’s employees was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and began treatments immediately. In her case, she was able to beat breast cancer. As a very close-knit company, ELO Restoration saw firsthand how important local support was for her recovery.

Annually in Florida, over 11,000 people are diagnosed statewide with breast cancer and nearly 2,000 die.  In Komen South Florida’s service area of Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties, almost 1,500 women are diagnosed with breast cancer.  Of those, nearly 500 are late stage.

“With this new partnership, we are hoping to make even more people aware of the work Komen does, promote getting annual mammograms and self-checks – which are key to early detection and cures, and to assist in raising even more funds to help Komen reach their goal of less deaths due to breast cancer,” shared Pam Williams of ELO. “We join them in their mission and stand alongside the thousands who are fighting the disease.”

To kick-off the fundraising, ELO has pledged $12,000 to Susan G. Komen South Florida. For every roll-off container ELO places on a job site, they will donate $5 to Susan G. Komen in our effort to “Trash Cancer.” ELO will also match up to $20 for every homeowner donation on job sites. The first donation installment will be made following a social media event where ELO will donate $1 for every new “Like” they receive on their Facebook page during the first week.

“We are incredibly excited about this new partnership,” shared Kate Watt, executive director of Susan G. Komen South Florida. “As we grow our collaborations and seek more grass roots impact in our communities, it is partnerships like these that help us reach an even greater number of people. Our greatest hope is that the communities in which ELO serves notice the Komen logo and are reminded not only of what we do, but to continue to be champions for their own health, paying attention to their bodies and getting screened regularly.”

Since 1990, Susan G. Komen South Florida has provided over $14 million in local grant funding to increase education, treatment, and access to care for those at or below poverty in its service area. Funded programs in 2017 resulted in nearly 12,000 people reached through education, 1,300 people receiving navigation services, 685 people receiving mammograms, 631 people benefitting from diagnostic services, and 49 people learning they had breast cancer.
