Types of Storm Damage We Repair

Different types of storm damage can weaken your roof and lead to leaks, water intrusion, and long term structural issues if not addressed quickly. Elo Roofing’s licensed and certified team provides fast storm damage inspections and repairs backed by experience with Florida’s coastal climate, hurricane conditions, and insurance restoration projects.

What Type of Roof Damage Requires Storm Damage Restoration?

Our team is trained to identify the specific type of roof storm damage and repair it correctly.

Wind Damage

Wind damage often starts with shingle lifting, leaving the roof exposed the next time it rains. It is not always dramatic at first, but it creates a weak point that can resurface at the worst possible moment.

Hail Damage

Hail leaves behind impact marks that bruise or weaken shingles, even if they still look intact from a distance. Hail damage requires a close inspection and targeted hail damage roof repair techniques.

Hurricane Damage

Hurricanes can cause severe structural damage in a short amount of time. Sections of the roof may shift, lift, or tear away completely, leaving parts of the home exposed.

This type of damage is especially common on larger systems, including flat or low-slope surfaces often found on commercial roofing structures. In these situations, the first priority is getting everything secured and preventing further damage inside the home.

Debris And Tree Damage

Fallen branches and airborne debris can puncture the roof or damage the layers beneath it. While the impact point is usually visible, the full extent is not always clear without checking underneath the surface.

Storm Damage Roof Repair vs Replacement

Most storm damage roofing decisions come down to one question: Is the damage beyond repair?

Here is a simple breakdown:

Condition

Recommended Solution

Minor, localized damage

Repair

Widespread damage across multiple areas

Replacement

Aging roof with storm damage

Replacement

During the inspection, we walk you through what we see so you can make a clear, informed choice. If the rest of your roof is in good shape, our targeted roof repairs can often solve the issue. When the damage is more extensive, we will discuss whether our roof replacement services are a better long-term value.

Insurance Claims for Storm Damage

INSPECTION & DOCUMENTATION

Dealing with insurance after a storm starts with an inspection. We take photos and notes to support an insurance review if you file a claim, and we can be there if an adjuster comes out to ensure the damage is properly assessed.

ADJUSTER SUPPORT & NEXT STEPS

From there, coverage depends on your policy and how the damage is evaluated. We walk you through what was approved and what it means, so you know what comes next without having to piece it together on your own.

Why Choose Elo Roofing for Storm Damage

The name “Elo” comes from a story tied to the Timucua people, referring to a whistle used by those who stood watch over their community and helped protect it from approaching storms.
That idea carries through our work today. When our neighbors’ roofs are damaged in storms, we start by securing the affected area and helping you move forward with a clear plan.

Transparent & Warranty-Backed Workmanship

Every project starts with a clear evaluation, honest recommendations, and workmanship backed by a 10-year warranty.

How to Protect Your Roof Immediately After a Storm

Catching storm damage early can keep things from getting worse.

Here are a few simple steps to follow:

1. Check For Visible Damage

Walk around your home and look for missing shingles or debris on the roof.

2. Avoid Climbing Onto The Roof

It may be tempting to take a closer look, but storm damage can make surfaces unstable and unsafe.

3. Document What You See

Take photos of any visible damage. This can help later if you decide to file an insurance claim.

4. Call For A Professional Inspection

Even if the damage looks minor, getting it professionally inspected can prevent bigger issues from developing.

Great experience and the Elo staff quickly fixed my roof leak the same day. THANKS! Review update: months later the same roof leak is back, we asked Elo to come and look at our roof again, water is now leaking again in the same spot when it rains heavily. Elo came out, replaced a 10x10 area with new shingles and said they found a damaged plywood clip. Payed an additional 830.00 for this repair in July. After the repair was completed we bleached and painted the stained ceiling returning it to clean, white and unstained. A few more weeks went by with some rainy days, we noticed the stain had come back and even larger this time. We called Elo, two kids came out and inspected and told us nothing was wrong and that there is no leak. We bleached and painted the ceiling yet again thinking this may be residual damage from before the repair. As of today in early October, the leak is still active and now brown stains are back on our spare bedroom ceiling again after all the recent rain. Called Elo again and set another inspection date for today between 9-10 am. It's now past 3pm and no one showed up or called. Will be submitting a BBB complaint for this. The bottom line is that Elo took our money to repair a leak and the leak is still there. Elo, we do want you to address this. If you do and the leak it fixed, I'll be happy to change my review back to positive.

I originally gave this company a 5 Star, and I cannot express how much I regret that original rating. Back in April, this company performed roofing work on my home. At the time, everything appeared to be fine. Fast-forward six months to October, and I started having a rat problem. Initially, I assumed it was just an unfortunate situation that could happen to any homeowner. Then I went back and reviewed the video footage from when they performed the work in April. What I discovered was absolutely unacceptable. During the original repair, they cut an opening in my roof to address an existing design issue with the house. They removed the soffit, covered the area with metal, and NEVER properly replaced the soffit or sealed the opening they created. They essentially left an entry point into my home, which is responsible for my current rodent problem. Last week, I contacted the company, explained the situation, and provided photographs, videos, and multiple emails documenting the problem. They told me someone would come out this week to evaluate the issue. An appointment was scheduled for Thursday between 12 PM and 4 PM. Guess what? NOBODY SHOWED UP. I called to find out what was going on. They subsequently emailed me, explaining that their technician was running late on another repair and would instead arrive between 5 PM and 6 PM. Guess what happened next? 6:10PM, no one showed up. Let me explain why this is particularly infuriating. I took the entire day off work to be home so this company could inspect and evaluate THEIR OWN WORK, despite already having video evidence of what they did. That means I lost an entire day's income waiting for someone who couldn't even be bothered to show up. And to make matters worse? TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY. My wife had planned to take me out for a birthday dinner. Instead, we spent the evening waiting for a roofing company that apparently has no respect for its customers' time, money, or commitments. So, to recap: I paid this company to perform roofing work. Months later, I discovered what appears to be an improperly repaired opening in my roof. I now have a rodent problem, I've lost income trying to get the issue addressed, and I've wasted an entire day waiting through TWO appointment windows that they failed to honor. This has been, without question, the WORST experience I've ever had with a roofing company in Florida. I will be contacting my attorney to discuss options. And because I documented the original work, I have PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO FOOTAGE showing exactly what was done. I intend to publish a full video documenting this entire experience, including the original work, the opening they left behind, and my attempts to get the company to address it. That video will be coming VERY soon on YouTube. I don't expect perfection from any contractor. Mistakes happen. But when a company makes a mistake, the absolute minimum I expect is for them to take responsibility, communicate with their customer, and actually SHOW UP when they promise to. Apparently, even that is asking too much. Buyer Beware!

FAQs

How soon should I fix storm damage?

The sooner, the better. What looks minor can shift quickly, especially if another storm rolls through.

Will insurance cover storm damage?

Sometimes, but it depends on your policy and how the damage is reviewed. Each claim is handled a little differently.

Can small damage turn into bigger issues?

It can. A small problem might not seem urgent, but it can open the door for moisture and lead to more noticeable issues later.

How long do repairs take?

It varies, but many repairs are wrapped up in a few days once the scope is clear and weather allows.

Do I need a full replacement?

Not always. It really depends on the shape of the rest of the roof and how much of it was affected.
